Report: Pats release O'Connell

The Boston Globe reports the Patriots have released backup QB Kevin O'Connell on Sunday. O'Connell, a third-round draft choice in 2008, was considered the leading candidate to be the team's top backup to Tom Brady entering training camp. O'Connell struggled in the team's preseason win over the Redskins on Friday, throwing two interceptions.
