Garnett's 25 not enough

The News Kevin Garnett led the Celtics with 25 points, but Boston muffed their first home game in the series and fell 91-84 to the Lakers. They now trail 2-1 in the NBA Finals. Our View Garnett was 11-of-16 from the field, but wasn't much of a presence around the rim. He had just six boards and one block in the game. Still, he was more of a factor than Paul Pierce (5-of-12 for 15 points) and Rajon Rondo (11 points, three boards and eight dimes). No one was as bad as Ray Allen though. The usually reliable Allen was 0-of-13 from the field, missed all eight three-point attempts and finished with just two points, four rebounds and two assists. He'll need to wake up if the Celtics want to even this series. Read More

Cabrera goes 3-for-5

The News Melky Cabrera filled up a box score on Tuesday, going 3-for-5 with a triple, an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base as the Braves topped the D-Backs 7-5. Our View Cabrera had a solid all around day, but the former Yankee's numbers on the season leave much to be desired. He's hitting just .244 with one homer, 14 RBI and three swipes. He is NL-only material. Read More

Johnson homers, plates three

The News Kelly Johnson went 3-for-4, drove in three and ripped his 13th homer of the season in Tuesday's 7-5 loss to the Braves. Our View Johnson shocked the fantasy world with his nine homers in April, but he has come back down to Earth. Tuesday's blast was his first since May 19th and he had only driven in one run since then until today's three-spot. Read More

Manny drives in game-winning run

The News Manny Ramirez drove in the game's only run with an eighth inning ground rule double to give the Dodgers a 1-0 win over the Cardinals on Tuesday. Our View Manny came through when it mattered, but that was his only hit in four at-bats in the game. The once formidable slugger is hitting just .278 with four homers and 26 RBI this season. Perhaps something has made him unhappy in LA and he's looking for a reason to sulk. Read More

Suzukie homers, drives in four

The News Kurt Suzuki went 4-for-5, homered and drove in four runs in Tuesday's 10-1 whipping of the Angels. Our View Suzuki has his average up to .275 on the year and has been driving in runs like it's going out of style. In his last seven games he's hit four homers and driven in ten, giving him eight and 28 on the year respectively. He represents a strong offensive option in all leagues at a thin position. Read More

Weaver ripped by A's

The News Jered Weaver got blown up on Tuesday, allowing six runs over six innings of work as the Angels were smashed by the A's 10-1. Our View Weaver allowed 12 hits and a walk while fanning six and had his second-worst outing of the season. It also snapped a 14-inning scoreless streak he had going. Despite the fact that he fell to 5-3 and saw his ERA climb to 3.20, he's still having a strong season overall. Read More

Hernandez roughed up again

The News Felix Hernandez was rocked by the Rangers on Tuesday, serving up all seven runs of a 7-1 loss over six innings of work. Our View King Felix was anything but on Tuesday. He allowed eight hits (one homer) and walked three while fanning five in his six frames. He's now 3-5 with an uncharacteristic 3.77 ERA on the year, and his relative ineffectiveness is one of the reasons the Mariners are just 23-35 in 2010. Read More
