Molina gets day off Friday

MLB.com is reporting that Giants' catcher Bengie Molina got the day off on Friday. He was replaced by Eli Whiteside behind the plate. It was just a routine day off, and was not due to injury.

Many people thought originally that Whiteside was given the start since rookie Ryan Sadowski was on the mound, but the Giants are saying that had nothing to do with the decision. While Sadowski may be more comfortable with Whiteside, the Giants can't afford to sit Bengie every time Sadowski pitches.
