The News Daniel Briere needed stitches to close an cut under his eye in Game 5 on Sunday but was able to return to action shortly after suffering the cut, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. Our View He'll be re-evaluated today, but you have to believe he'll be available for Game 6. The Flyers face elimination, down 3-2 in the series.

Posted in Fantasy Hockey by SlapShot 499 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News SKA St. Petersburg of the KHL has upped its offer to Ilya Kovalchuk to three years for $42 million, according to the Bergen Record. Our View That would be a whole lot of tax-free money for Kovalchuk to turn down. It remains to be seen whether or not Kovalchuk will remain in the NHL next season, as he has to at least consider this latest offer to join the KHL.
Welker claims that he doesn't feel limited
Posted in Fantasy Football by Gridiron 499 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News Wes Welker (knee) said that he hasn't felt limited at all in workouts with the Patriots thus far, though he declined to comment on what point of the season he thinks he'll be in action by, according to the Boston Globe's Albert Breer. Our View As you probably know, Welker is recovering from a torn ACL and MCL that he suffered in January but is way ahead of schedule and has been participating in New England's OTAs. We still do not expect him to be ready to be ready by the start of this season, but at the same time, it wouldn't shock us.
Jackson absent from Eagles' OTAs
Posted in Fantasy Football by Gridiron 499 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News DeSean Jackson was not present at Philadelphia's OTAs on Monday morning, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. Our View Asante Samuel wasn't there either, though his absence was related to a death in the family. Jackson, on the other hand, did not have an excuse, so we'll assume this is his way of asking for a new contract. For now, we don't expect this to become much of an issue.

The News Josh Whitesell has been acquired by Yakult of the Japanese Baseball League, according to the Kyodo News. Our View Whitesell had been playing pretty well at Triple-A Syracuse this season, but he clearly does not need to be on anyone's fantasy radar anymore.
Konerko on the trade block?
Posted in Fantasy Baseball by DuckSnort 499 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News ESPN's Buster Olney reports that the White Sox may be willing to trade some of their parts in an attempt to build for the future and that Paul Konerko may be available. Our View Konerko is 34 years old and is owed $12 million this season but is a legitimate power hitter who's currently tied for second in the AL with 17 home runs. You have to believe he'll draw significant interest from the contenders around the league, though we wouldn't expect his fantasy value to change all that much. He might land in a lineup slightly better than Chicago's, though he'd be leaving a very hitting-friendly ballpark.
Hermida getting better
Posted in Fantasy Baseball by DuckSnort 499 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News Jeremy Hermida reported diminished soreness in his ribs and forearm on Sunday, according to the Boston Globe. Our View He's missed Boston's past two games since colliding with Adrian Beltre in the field on Friday. No word yet on when he'll be back, but it sounds like it should be sometime soon. Still, he certainly should not be active in any fantasy lineups this week.
Cameron won't be playing every day
Posted in Fantasy Baseball by DuckSnort 499 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News Mike Cameron (abdomen) will be eased back into Boston's lineup, according to the Boston Globe. "He's not going to play every day," manager Terry Francona said. "That's not going to be in his best interests, I know that." Our View Cameron played yesterday, but it sounds like he won't be playing more than three or four days a week anytime in the near future. You can expect continued starts from the likes of Jeremy Hermida (once he gets back to good health) and Bill Hall, and Cameron should not be seen as a viable fantasy option until he's back to everyday duty.

The News Updating an earlier item, despite being absent from Chicago's morning skate on Sunday, Andrew Ladd (undisclosed) will be play in game five of the Stanley Cup on Sunday evening, according to Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune. Our View It will be the first time he's been active during the season's final series. Expect his contributions to be fairly limited as he gets his legs back underneath him.
