Jalen Rose: LeBron to leave ClevelandPosted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 549 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News According to ESPN's Jalen Rose, LeBron James is extremely unlikely to re-sign with the Cavs this summer. Our View Granted, Rose is one of the worst analysts working on television in any sport, but he is also a recently retired player with many connections inside the league. His word is far from gospel, but it's also far from heresy.
Nuggets, Anthony closing in on extensionPosted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 549 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News The Nuggets and Carmelo Anthony are making significant progress toward a contract extension, according to ESPN.com. Our View It sounds like a deal could be complete shortly after tomorrow's draft, possibly sometime within the next week. Anthony has just one year left on his current contract and would be the biggest name in the 2011 free agent class if an extension is not worked out before that, but it doesn't appear that he'll make it nearly that far without an extension. It sounds like the deal will likely be a three-year max extension.
Hornets coach Williams want team to keep PaulPosted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 550 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News New Orleans' head coach Monty Williams has made it clear that he wants the team to hold onto Chris Paul, according to the Seattle Times. "Chris was the main thing that excited me about this job," Williams said. "So many people are begging for a point guard. You're talking about the best one in the game. I couldn't envision being here without Chris." Our View Paul has also recently stated that he wants to stick with the Hornets, though only if the team shows commitment to winning. Expect the rumors to continue to swirl, though we'd be shocked if Paul wasn't wearing a Hornets jersey next season.
Miami to pull in a trio of superstars?Posted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 551 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News ESPN's Chad Ford believes there is a chance that Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh could all sign with the Heat this summer. Our View With Wade already all-but-saying he'll be re-upping with the Heat this summer, that leaves LeBron and Bosh. In recent days, Bosh has bristled at the notion that he is simply a complimentary player, while LeBron and Wade sharing the same court could prove quite difficult. In other words, getting the three to all sign in the same city will not be easy. Stay tuned.
Report: T-Wolves dangling FlynnPosted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 551 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News According to Yahoo! Sports, the Timberwolves are attempting to deal Jonny Flynn and the 16th and 23rd picks in this Thursday's draft to the Pacers in exchange for the 10th pick. Our View They may not be seeking only the 10th pick in return, but it is the centerpiece. Sending Flynn packing would make a lot of sense for Minnesota, as it would finally clear a spot for Ricky Rubio in its back-court. Stay tuned.

The News According to Yahoo! Sports, NBA powerbroker and LeBron James confidant "World Wide" William Wesley has been telling teams that trading for Hornets point guard Chris Paul would dramatically increase their chances of landing James this summer. Our View With the Hornets up for sale and in constant financial trouble, Paul is not untouchable. Although any team in the NBA could use a player like Paul, the Knicks have a particularly glaring need at point guard, as well as a desire to land James. Stay tuned.

The News Were projected top three pick Derrick Favors to fall in this Thursday's draft, the Jazz, who have the ninth pick, would be interested, according to the Salt Lake Tribune. Our View They have reportedly "scouted him extensively." However, if they really want to land him, they will almost certainly have to trade up. Minnesota, who has the fourth pick, could be a potential partner. Stay tuned.
LeBron throws a bone to OhioPosted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 553 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News According to the Associated Press, LeBron James "stunned" the crowd at "LeBron Appreciation Day" in his hometown of Akron, Ohio on Saturday after arriving near the event's official end time. "Akron is my home, it's my life," James told the crowd. "Everything I do is for this city. I'm going to continue to do great things. I love every last one of you all. Akron is home." Our View Would James speak with such love for a city he is about to abandon? Perhaps, but still a good sign nonetheless for the citizens of Ohio. The NBA free agency period is now just 12 days away. Stay tuned.

"I'll deal with that when the time comes, but it's obvious that I don't want to be anywhere else," Allen said. Our View Allen will certainly draw plenty of interest as a still-athletic sharpshooter with tons of playoff experience. Still, from the sounds of it, he won't be wearing a new uniform next season.
Lakers come from behind for 16th ChampionshipPosted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 555 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News Kobe Bryant hit just 6-of-24 shots, but it didn't stop him from winning the NBA Finals MVP award and the Lakers from earning their 16th title in franchise history. Kobe finished with 23 points, 15 rebounds, two assists and a steal en route to his fifth championship and second career Finals MVP award. Ron Artest had a huge game with 20 points, five boards and five steals and his trey late in the fourth quarter pretty much sealed the deal for LA. Andrew Bynum played just 18 and a half minutes and finished with two points and six boards, but the Lakers got it done without him.
Celtics blow late lead to lose ChampionshipPosted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 555 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News Paul Pierce put up a team-high 18 points, but it wasn't enough as the Celtics blew a late lead and fell 83-79 to the Lakers, who went on to win their 16th NBA Championship. Our View Pierce had a team-high ten boards as well, but hit just five of his 15 shots on the night. The Celtics shot 40 percent overall as a team, eight percent better than the Lakers, but got just six points from their bench and couldn't break the Lakers' suffocating defense in the fourth quarter. Rajon Rondo had another solid game, missing a triple-double by just two rebounds and hitting a late three-pointer that gave Boston hope. He finished with 14 points, eight boards and ten assists, but he didn't get a lot of help. Ray Allen was just 3-of-14 for 13 points and Kevin Garnett had 17, but only managed three rebounds.
