Magic have great draft

Posted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 547 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News According to Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix, the Magic had the best draft of any team on Thursday. Our View They drafted big men Daniel Orton and Stanley Robinson. Orton is considered a great talent, but suffered a free-fall on Thursday partly due to concerns over his knees. Playing behind Dwight Howard and Marcin Gortat, he'll have plenty of time to get healthy, and two great examples to follow.

The News Following a draft night deal, Martell Webster is now a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Our View He averaged 24.5 minutes and 9.4 points per game last season. He should see a slight uptick in both of those totals in 2009-10.

Kings select Whiteside

Posted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 548 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News Hassan Whiteside was selected by the Sacramento Kings with the 33rd overall pick in the NBA Draft on Thursday evening. Our View A center out of Marshall, Whiteside was predicted by many to be drafted in the first round. An incredibly athletic defender with an inhuman blocking ability, he is very poor on the offensive end of the floor, however. Playing for the currently low profile Kings, though, he will be given time to develop.

Hornets draft KU product Aldrich

Posted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 548 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News The New Orleans Hornets selected Kansas center Cole Aldrich with the 11th overall pick in Thursday evening's 2010 NBA Draft. Our View A gifted shot-blocker and rebounder, Aldirch is not yet a polished offensive player. However, he runs the floor extremely well for a big man, and can be expected to develop into a very solid NBA big man.

Anthony opts out of contract with Heat

Posted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 548 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News Joel Anthony has opted out of his contract with the Heat, according to the Miami Herald. "I still want to come back to Miami," Anthony said. "They have shown interest, but we just have to see how it works out." Our View He'll now be a free agent. This news creates a bit more cap space for the Heat, though they'll probably end up re-signing him, anyway.

CP3 to Orlando?

Posted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 549 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News According to Frank Isola of the New York Daily News, there is "talk" of New Orleans shipping Chris Paul to the Magic. Our View Specifically, sending Paul and James Posey to Orlando for Vince Carter and Jameer Nelson. Considering one of the Hornets' main reasons for getting rid of Paul would be to shed salary, it's unlikely they would want to take on the aging Carter's odious deal. Consider this move "unlikely."
