The News The Dodgers have signed Trent Oeltjen to a minor league deal, according to MLB Trade Rumors. Our View Oeltjen had been playing well for the Brewers' Triple-A affiliate but opted out of his contract since Milwaukee did not call him up. The Dodgers should be willing to promote him if he proves worthy.

Clemens appealed after a federal judge in Houston dismissed most of his claims against McNamee in February 2009.

The Arizona Republic reports that, while Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson hasn't decided if SP Barry Enright will stay in the rotation, he likes what he's seen from the 24-year-old. "He's done a really good job in his first two starts," Gibson said. "I know that. What we're looking for is people to execute game plans, and he was very sharp when he came out early. All in all, I saw a lot of good things. It's too bad he didn't get the victory." Kirk Gibson - Arizona Diamondbacks - Arts - Literature - Cyberpunk

Posted in Fantasy Baseball by DuckSnort 34 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News The Phillies have been scouting Ben Sheets of late, according to CSN Philly. Our View Sheets has pitched pretty well for the A's this season, aside from a two-game stretch in late-April and early-May when he gave up 17 runs over two starts. The Phillies are also looking to get some infield help and have discussed Miguel Tejada, Ty Wigginton, Kelly Johnson, Jeff Keppinger and several others. No move is imminent.
Hudson likely to start for Chicago on Sunday
Posted in Fantasy Baseball by DuckSnort 34 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News Daniel Hudson is expected to be recalled by the White Sox to start on Sunday, according to MLB.com. Our View Jake Peavy (back) will not be able to make his start on Sunday and could be out for much longer than that, so the prospect Hudson will finally get his chance. He's gone 11-4 with a 3.47 ERA for Triple-A Charlotte and has been especially good over his last 10 starts, going 7-2 with a 2.64 ERA. He's worth a look in all AL-only leagues, as well as any deeper mixed league.

Posted in Fantasy Baseball by DuckSnort 34 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News X-rays on Kevin Youkilis' ankle came back negative, and he may be available to play on Wednesday, according to the Associated Press. Our View Youkilis' presence in Boston's lineup today is far from a sure thing, but it sounds like Youkilis believes he'll be out there. Owners in daily leagues should be sure to check back in later today, but this injury certainly does not seem like anything to worry about in the long term.
Could Ellsbury be back this weekend?
Posted in Fantasy Baseball by DuckSnort 34 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News Jacoby Ellsbury (ribs) could be ready to join the Red Sox in their weekend series at Toronto, according to the Boston Globe. "He may not," manager Terry Francona said of Ellsbury's possible return. "But if he's at the point where he can do the baseball stuff, then he'll join us." Our View Keep in mind that this is far from a sure thing, and it'd seem like a rush to get him back before the All-Star break. It's nice to hear that he's making good progress, but keep Ellsbury out of your lineup until you know for sure that he'll be back.
Mathis to start for Texas on Saturday
Posted in Fantasy Baseball by DuckSnort 34 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News Doug Mathis will start against Baltimore on Saturday, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Our View He should get a few starts under his belt until either Rich Harden or Derek Holland heal up enough to return to the Rangers. Mathis' spot in the rotation is definitely temporary, and thus there's no reason to bother picking him up.

Our View His next scheduled rehab start will come on Sunday, followed by another start five days after that on Friday, July 16. If things go well there, he could be activated on July 21 to start that Wednesday at Oakland.
