Boston Red Sox outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury, who has played only nine games this season because of broken ribs, will be sidelined several more weeks. The Providence Journal reports that he will be out a minimum of two weeks and could be out until the All-Star Break. Ellsbury, who broke four ribs in a collision with teammate Adrian Beltre on April 11, was examined by Dr. Lewis Yocum in Los Angeles on Wednesday, where a new injury to the area was discovered. Ellsbury will receive therapy and will work out doing non-baseball related activities in Arizona for a couple of weeks before the next course of action is decided. A statement released by Yocum and Red Sox Medical Director Dr. Tom Gill on Thursday said Ellsbury "will require several weeks of rest and physical therapy." Posted in Fantasy Baseball by DuckSnort 45 days ago (http://feeds.cbssports.com)
Houston RP Wilton Lopez allowed two runs (both earned) on three hits and failed to get an out after taking over for SP Roy Oswalt on Thursday against the Rockies. Lopez let the Rockies claw back into the game in the eighth inning after he let them get to within one run. This came a day after he pitched a scoreless 10th inning in the Astros victory on Wednesday. He had allowed just one run over his previous nine appearances and posting a 1.04 ERA over that span. . "He's got the stuff to be a starter, like they've tried to make him in the past. But in our view, here's a guy that loves to be out there on the mound. He wants to pitch every day, even though his stuff kind of goes down after a couple of days," manager Brad Mills told MLB.com. Houston Astros - Brad Mills - Roy Oswalt - Hit - Earned run
