Giants OF Andres Torres is 17 for 21 in stolen base attempts this season, but he has been working on new tactics to extend his career high in thievery. The switch-hitter was been working on getting a better jump and extending his healthy sized lead. "I've been working on that with Roberto Kelly," Torres told MLB.com, referring to the Giants' first-base coach. Torres, who's previous season-high of stolen bases was six in 2009, is on pace for 33 steals this season. The last Giants player to reach the 30-stolen-base mark was Dave Roberts in 2007. Torres went 2 for 6, including his sixth homer of the year, with three runs scored in Thursday's 9-3 win over the Brewers.

Since he's returned from Triple-A Colorado Springs, Fowler is hitting .388 (14 for 36) with 13 runs, six RBI, one home run and two stolen bases. "I've been comfortable in the box and just going out and relaxing," Fowler told MLB.com. "That's the big thing at the plate -- you've just got to relax." Fowler also changed his batting stance. "Hitting is such a rhythm-type thing," manager Jim Tracy said. "If you recall where Dexter was early with his hands up here and there was little movement created, we've lowered the hands and there's some load which helps to incorporate the lower half of his body and keeps him behind the ball."
