Canadiens RW Guillaume Latendresse scored a goal during Tuesday's game against the Blackhawks. Latendresse made it a 2-0 lead with his 13th goal 6:12 into the second period. Latendresse shot his own rebound off Cristobal Huet and the puck flipped high in the air before sailing behind the Blackhawks goalie into the net. He has four goals in his last six games.
Sakic hopes he can return this season
Posted by SlapShot few seconds ago (http://feeds.cbssports.com)
Although his fingers are feeling fine, Joe Sakic's left leg is a different matter. The Colorado Avalanche captain is still trying to recover strength in his leg after January surgery to repair a herniated disk. However, he remains optimistic he can return to the ice before the end of the season. Colorado closes out the year with three straight home games beginning April 9. Sakic, who's in his 20th season, mangled his left hand in a snow blower accident in December and then had surgery on his bothersome back. As for his retirement plans, Sakic refuses to consider that until the summer.
Oilers G Dwayne Roloson made 20 saves during a 5-3 loss to the Ducks Tuesday. Roloson jumped out to a 1-0 lead before Anaheim broke the game open in the second period with three goals. The Ducks led 4-1 heading into fourth and were cruising until Edmonton cut the lead to one with 2:11 to play. Then Rob Niedermayer iced the win for Anaheim with an empty-net goal at 19:24. Roloson has lost five of six starts.
The News Hanley Ramirez was 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored on Wednesday as Florida crushed Baltimore 13-2. Our View Hanley is starting to see the ball better. He was mired in a brutal slump when he first returned from the WBC, but seems to be pulling out of it. He's only hitting .186, but he's been able to drive people in, posting 12 RBI in limited duty.
Yankee Stadium, Citi Field set to open (AP)

The whitish Indiana limestone and Deer Isle granite walls of the new Yankee Stadium rise imposingly in the Bronx, a structure meant to awe like a modern Colosseum or perhaps Versailles. Across town in Queens, the red brick exterior of Citi Field frames its arched entries, leading into a massive rotunda that evokes Ebbets Field and simpler times.
Sabathia strong in last spring start (AP)

The New York Yankees got a major scare in opening-day starter CC Sabathia's final spring outing. The left-hander had Jason Ellison's line-drive RBI single go off his glove in the second inning of New York's 8-5 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday. "Not what to you want to see," New York manager Joe Girardi said.
Foster has injured foot
Posted by DoubleDribble 1 hour ago (http://feeds.cbssports.com)
The Indianapolis Star reports Pacers center Jeff Foster is out indefinitely. Foster's left foot started giving him problems in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game against Washington. "We're hoping to have (Foster) for the weekend, but we don't know," coach Jim O'Brien said. "It depends on how his foot progresses over the next couple of days. I do not anticipate having him in practice either of the next two days. Hopefully he's healthy enough to go against San Antonio." Foster had a similar problem with the foot several years ago. "He had a stress reaction in his foot," O'Brien said. "I guess the stress reaction is something you get right before you get a stress fracture in your foot. It's showing the same signs. It's not a stress reaction, but if he continues to play through the pain, it could quickly become that, then he would be done for the duration."
Granger deals with pain
Posted by DoubleDribble 1 hour ago (http://feeds.cbssports.com)
Pacers All-Star forward Danny Granger had to leave less than two minutes into the game Tuesday against Chicago after getting hit in the eye by Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich on a drive to the basket. Granger went back to the locker room to get four stitches above his left eye. He returned in the second quarter with a bandage. Hinrich played with a bandage over his right eye. The stitches didn't bother Granger's vision too much because he finished with 31 points on 11-of-19 shooting.

Barbosa out Wednesday
Posted by DoubleDribble 1 hour ago (http://feeds.cbssports.com)
The Arizona Republic reports Suns guard Leandro Barbosa will not play in Wednesday night's home game against Houston, moving his target return date to Friday's home game against Sacramento. Barbosa has missed the past six games since suffering a left tibial bruise less than two minutes into his appearance in a March 18 game against Philadelphia. He practiced for the first time Tuesday and tested his knee area at Wednesday morning's shootaround.
