Brown dealt to Maple Leafs

Posted in Fantasy Hockey by SlapShot 548 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News TSN reports that winger Mike Brown was traded from the Ducks to the Maple Leafs for their fifth round pick on Saturday. The Ducks then selected Christopher Wagner of the EJCL. Our View Brown doesn't score many points, but he did manage 106 penalty minutes in 75 games last season. The Maple Leafs feel good about their current prospects and needed to add a player who could contribute to the team immediately. Still, Brown holds very little fantasy value.

Spezza likely to stay in Ottawa

Posted in Fantasy Hockey by SlapShot 548 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News The Ottawa Sun reports that despite looking for a trade partner for Jason Spezza, Senators GM Bryan Murray says that it appears that his center will be back next season. Spezza has a no-movement clause in his contract that kicks in on July 1. Our View Spezza probably can't be happy that his GM readily admits that he was trying to trade him, but he'll likely suit up for Ottawa again next season. In 60 games last year he piled up 57 points, including 24 on the power play. 13.9 percent of his shots reached the back of the net.

Savard on the move?

Posted in Fantasy Hockey by SlapShot 548 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News The Boston Herald reports that Marc Savard's limited no-trade clause allows him to be dealt to five teams following July 1. The team is believed to have made him available following the selection of Tyler Seguin with the No. 2 overall pick in last night's draft. Our View Savard was hampered by injury last season and managed only 33 points in 41 games a season ago. It's believed the teams he would allow a trade to are all on the East coast, particularly the northeast.

Pens get rights to Hamhuis

Posted in Fantasy Hockey by SlapShot 549 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News The Penguins acquired the rights to free agent defenseman Dan Hamhuis from the Philadelphia Flyers for the Pens' third round pick in the 2011 draft, according to TSN.ca. Our View Hamhuis notched five goals and 24 points last season with the Predators and had a plus-four rating. He was picked up by the Flyers, but the two sides couldn't come to terms, so now he'll get a shot with the Penguins.

Posted in Fantasy Hockey by SlapShot 549 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News Updating an earlier item, ESPN's Pierre LeBrun reports that recently acquired Flyers blueliner Dan Hamhuis is "almost definitely headed to (the open) market." Our View It doesn't sound like he and the Flyers are going to be able to work out a deal before June 1. Recent speculation has Philadelphia possibly trading his negotiation rights to the Canucks. Stay tuned.

Hamhuis, Flyers far apart in contract talks

Posted in Fantasy Hockey by SlapShot 549 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News According to TSN's Bob McKenzie, blueliner Dan Hamhuis is "is not at all close on contract talks" with the Flyers. "All signs" point to him becoming an unrestricted free agent. Our View While it seems hard to believe that the Flyers would trade for him without knowing whether or not they will be able to keep him, that appears like it could be the case. Stay tuned.
