Pirates sign Hawpe

The Pittsburgh Pirates announced on Thursday that they had reached an agreement on a minor league deal with outfielder/first baseman Brad Hawpe. The team also invited Hawpe to spring training.

Flores signs with Dodgers

CBSSports.com Baseball Insider Jon Heyman reported on Wednesday that the Dodgers have agreed to terms with catcher Jesus Flores on a minor league deal, with an invitation to spring training. The owner of a career .241 average over five seasons, Flores was a rule 5 selection by the Nationals, from the Mets, in 2006.

Jacobs inks deal with Seattle

MLB.com’s Greg Johns reported on Thursday that the Mariners have singed Mike Jacobs to a minor league deal and invited him to spring training. Jacobs played in 13 games with Arizona last season, hitting .211 and driving in two runs. His best season came in 2008, when he hit 32 home runs for the Marlins.

Proctor to sign with Giants

The Giants agreed to sign reliever Scott Proctor to a minor league deal earlier this week, according to TCPalm.com. Proctor pitched in Korea last season after spending 2011 with the Braves and Yankees.
