Colts cut Hart, among others

The News Mike Hart has been cut by the Colts, according to ProFootballTalk.com. The team also released running back Lance Ball, receiver Sam Giguere, defensive tackle John Gill, defensive tackle Adrian Grady, defensive end Marcus Howard, defensive back Dante Hughes, center Steve Justice, receiver John Matthews, receiver Brett McDermott, running back Walter Mendenhall, guard Tom Pestock, receiver Taj Smith, linebacker Michael Tauiliili, defensive tackle Terrance Taylor, tackle Jaimie Thomas, defensive end Josh Thomas, and tackle Michael Toudouze. Our View Hart was unable to beat out Chad Simpson for the No. 3 role at running back, namely due to an ankle injury that forced him to miss the preseason finale. Hart had the physical tools to develop into a good pro, but has a poor track record with durability so far in his career. Taylor was competing for a backup spot at defensive tackle, while the rest were longshots to make the team. Read More

Lions cut Brown, among others

The News Milford Brown has been released by the Lions, according to ProFootballTalk.com. The team also cut linebacker Rufus Alexander, tight end Carson Butler, defensive end Sean Conover, running back Tristan Davis, linebacker Zack Folett, center Dan Gerberry, seventh-round pick tight end Dan Gronkowski, wide receiver Dane Looker, safety Calvin Lowry, cornerback Ramzee Robinson, and linebacker Spenser Smith. Our View Brown was competing for a backup spot at guard. Seventh-round pick Follett was trying to make the team as a backup strong-side linebacker, while Robinson was doing the same at cornerback. The rest did not have a real shot of making the team. Read More

Jags dump Pashos, among others

The News Tony Pashos has been released by the Jaguars, according to the Florida Times-Union. Running back Alvin Pearman, tight end Richard Angulo and longtime long snapper Joe Zelenka also failed in their quest to make the final roster. Our View Pashos started all 16 games at right tackle last season, but was viewed as expendable after the team added rookie Eugene Monroe and former Pro Bowler Tra Thomas in the offseason. Pearman was hard-pressed to make the team behind rising star Maurice Jones-Drew, rookie Rashad Jennings and Chauncey Washington. Angulo had a shot to make the team as a No. 3 tight end. Read More

Raiders cut Greenwood, among others

The News Morlon Greenwood has been cut by the Raiders, according to their official team website. The team also released safety Jerome Boyd, defensive back Darrick Brown, defensive end Greyson Gunheim, receiver Jonathan Holland, lineman James Marten, linebackers David Nixon, Slade Norris and Chris O'Neill, fullback Marcel Reece, running back Gary Russell, punter Ricky Schmitt, tight end Darrell Strong, offensive lineman Mark Wilson, and tackle Seth Wand. Our View Greenwood was added in mid-August to merely provide depth, and it is not surprising that he was cut loose. Fourth-round pick Slade Norris has upside and was competing for the primary backup role at weak-side linebacker, and it is surprising to see him miss the cut, however. The rest were considered longshots to make the club. Read More

Ravens cut Peerman, among others

The News Cedric Peerman has been released by the Ravens, according to the National Football Post. The team also cut defensive tackle Nadir Abdallah, fullback Jason Cook, wide receivers Jayson Foster, Ernie Wheelwright and Eron Riley, safety K.J. Gerard, kicker Graham Gano, center Robby Felix, tight end Davon Drew, linebacker Tony Fein, tight end Isaac Smolko, cornerback Evan Oglesby, offensive tackles Stefan Rodgers and Tre Stallings and linebacker William VanDeSteeg. Our View Peerman lacks size, which likely hurt his chances of making the Ravens as a No. 4 running back. Tight end Davon Drew had a chance to make the club as a reserve tight end, but the rest of the players were merely camp fodder. Read More

The team also cut wide receiver Aaron Kelly, cornerback William Middleton and tight end Jason Rader. Our View Brown was competing with Jason Snelling for the No. 3 role at running back. The club also released quarterback Mike Reilly, running backs Isaac Redman and Justin Vincent, wide receivers Tyler Grisham and Brandon Williams, tight end Dezmond Sherrod, offensive linemen Jason Capizzi, Jeremy Parquet and A.Q. Shipley, defensive linemen Sonny Harris, Steve McClendon and Scott Paxson, linebackers Bruce Davis, Tom Korte, Andy Schantz and Donovan Woods, defensive backs Roy Lewis and Anthony Madison and kicker Piotr Czech. Our View Baker looked good at times in camp, but ultimately did not do enough to win a roster spot as a backup receiver. The other players were competing for backup roles as well. Read More

The News Ingle Martin has been released by the Broncos, according to the Denver Post. The team also cut center Kory Lichtensteiger, defensive tackle Carlton Powell, undrafted rookie linebacker Lee Robinson, running back Marcus Thomas, offensive lineman Clint Oldenburg and defensive end Matthias Askew. Our View Martin failed in his bid to win the No. 3 role at quarterback. Lichtensteiger could be back if 14-year vet Casey Wiegmann suffers an injury as the starting center. Powell was competing for a role on the third-string, while the rest were viewed as longshots to make the team. Read More
