Mark Buehrle, Kelvim Escobar, and Brad Penny are available in my 12-team, standard Head-to-Head CBS Fanatsy League. Which one would you recommend picking up?
All three of the pitchers you mention are quality fantasy pitchers in a 12-team fantasy league and should be owned. Since you likely only have the ability to add one of these players, your choice should be Brad Penny. Compare the stats below...

As you can see, all 3 have done very well so far the season- the question is who will continue to perform for you once you pick them up? In these situations the GNUru likes to think big and take the player with the most upside. You know what Mark Buehrle's ceiling is and his low strikeout totals will prevent him from being an elite fantasy pitcher. Kelvim Escobar has never been able to consistently perform and the fact that this years stats are skewed by the fact he has faced the worst hitting team in baseball twice (the Chicago White Sox). Out of the 3 mentioned above, the GNUru would pick up Mr. Brad Penny. Penny has always had dominant stuff. If Penny can stay in control, keep his walks down, and stay healthy Brad could potentially be a top 10 fantasy pitcher. Although there are some if in there, the number is far less than that of the other 2.

The first 5 weeks of the 2007 Fantasy Baseball season are just about in the bags and that means that now it's time to turn your attention to week 6. Lucky for you the GNUru is here to help you with your week 6 lineup decisions.
Week 6 - GNUru Batter Banter
It's still a little too early to give up on your veterans off to a slow start but you may want to consider getting some of these hot hitters in your fantasy lineups. While some on the list are no-brainers (Guerrero, Soriano, etc.) others are still scratching their way into fantasy lineups (J.J. Hardy, Shane Victorino, Johnny Peralta, etc.) and warrant lineup consideration.

Week 6 - GNUru Rotation Ramblings
Finally, we start to see some pitchers settle down and most games being played. Now is the time you can begin to make assumptions on players, ride the hot hands, and play the double-start game. Here is a list of the scheduled double start pitchers. As always, be warned some pitchers could lose that advantage in a heartbeat via a rainout. So make sure you chose your pitchers wisely!

In weekly head-to-head (H2H) leagues, it's often the better strategy to avoid weak double starters and go with pitcher with proven track records (or at least look to be in mid-season form). Here is a list of which starting pitchers have impressed early and warrant rotation consideration regardless of how many starts they will make in week 6. Numbers are compiled during the last 14 days.

I’m in a Yahoo Head-to-Head league and currently in 2nd place. I have BJ Ryan currently in my disabled list (DL) slot. I also have Howie Kendrick and Mike Piazza on my team, who are also on the DL, as reserves. In my league, Michael Young has been released and is now a free agent. My infield is as follows: Pudge @ catcher, Jeff Kent @ 1B, Chase Utley @ 2B, and Miguel Tejada @ SS.
Should I pick up young to back up Tejada? Will Young heat up soon? Also, should I drop any of my DL guys or ride it out till they return?
The owner who dropped Michael Young made one of the most common mistakes in fantasy baseball- that is, drop a proven fantasy baseball player off to a slow start. In the article, “So the Season, Has Started Now What?”, the GNUru advises owners to be ready to pounce on under-performing stars who are dropped by impatient owners. The case you describe with Michael young certainly fits the bill. Although Young is off to a terrible start (.194 AVG., 2 HRs, 14 RBI), he has also hit over .300 for 4 consecutive seasons. When all is said and done, Young will be back near his career averages. So, Yes, pick up Michael Young immediately. The best part about snagging a player that is off to a slow start is that you will reap the rewards when they heat up. Since Michael Young has a lot of heating up to do, the payout should be mighty nice! If you do have to release someone to clear room for Young, Piazza is your man. Piazza is getting up there in age and although he has multi-position eligibility, he has not performed up to expectations this year hitting just 1 HR in 103 at bats. Throw in the fact that he will be out for 4-6 weeks makes this any easy decision.
