Reds snap Mets' 10-game winning streak (AP)

A whole lot of little things ended the New York Mets' winning streak. Bronson Arroyo extended his latest surge by pitching eight innings Friday night, and the Cincinnati Reds used a minimal rally to beat the Mets 5-2, ending their 10-game winning streak. It took a lot of Arroyo and a little bit of luck to end the Mets' run, which ended one win shy of the franchise record.

Anderson's 5 RBIs lift Angels over BoSox (AP)
The Boston Red Sox came out flat in their first game after the All-Star break and Garret Anderson went 4-for-4 and drove in five runs for the Los Angeles Angels in an 11-3 victory Friday night. "I've been seeing the ball pretty good for a while now," said Anderson, who is hitting .300 lifetime against Boston with 14 homers and 77 RBIs.

Rays end 7-game skid, beat Blue Jays 2-1 (AP)

All the Tampa Bay Rays needed to end their losing streak was a home game. Ben Zobrist hit a two-run homer and James Shields allowed one run over seven innings to help the Rays snap a seven-game losing skid with a 2-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night. Zobrist hit his fourth homer of the season off A.J.

Sabathia 3-0 with Brewers after 4-hitter (AP)

CC Sabathia's transition from Cleveland to Milwaukee and from the American League to the National League has been seamless to say the least. The ace left-hander pitched a complete game for the Brewers in their final game before the All-Star break and another in their first game back. Sabathia, the reigning AL Cy Young Award winner, tossed a four-hitter Friday night to win his third straight start...

Moyer, Howard put Phillies alone in 1st (AP)

Against junkballer Jamie Moyer, those home run swings the Florida Marlins like to take produced mostly feeble grounders and popups. Again. The 45-year-old left-hander beat Florida for the 10th time in as many career starts, pitching six innings Friday night to help the Philadelphia Phillies to a 4-2 victory.

Loney's HR in 11th ties Dodgers for 1st (AP)

For the third time in 11 days, the Los Angeles Dodgers are tied for the lead in the NL West. Nomar Garciaparra, however, knows it's not time to start watching the scoreboard. James Loney homered leading off the 11th inning to lift the Los Angeles Dodgers to an 8-7 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night.

Molina lifts Cardinals past Padres 11-7 (AP)

Yadier Molina lacks the gaudy offensive numbers of Albert Pujols, Troy Glaus and first-time All-Star Ryan Ludwick. In the clutch, however, there's nobody the St. Louis Cardinals would rather have at the plate. "I just think he's immune to pressure," manager Tony La Russa said after Molina's two-run single with the bases loaded broke an eighth-inning tie in an 11-7 victory over the San Diego Padres.

Yankees' Mussina beats A's for 12th win (AP)

Mike Mussina received plenty of support from the New York Yankees, and newcomer Richie Sexson was right in the middle of it. Robinson Cano hit a three-run homer, Alex Rodriguez also connected and New York built an early cushion for Mussina in a 7-1 victory over the Oakland Athletics on Friday night. Sexson hit an RBI single in his first at-bat with the Yankees, and Mussina (12-6) pitched six...

Pence's double lifts Astros by Cubs 2-1 (AP)

Hunter Pence spent most of the All-Star break facing a pitching machine in the batting cage at Minute Maid Park. The extra work produced instant results. Pence drove in the game-winning run with a double off Bob Howry in bottom of the ninth inning and gave the Houston Astros a 2-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Friday night.

Hampton frustrated by latest setback (AP)
No one is making any guesses about Mike Hampton's next move after his latest injury. Hampton, the Atlanta Braves left-hander, has 138 career wins and almost as many injuries. He hasn't pitched in the major leagues since Aug. 19, 2005. He hurt his left groin while pitching in a minor league rehab game with Double-A Mississippi on Wednesday.
