Jonathon Niese to see specialist Friday

Mets starting pitcher Jonathon Niese will return to New York Friday to visit with an orthopedist, after he was forced to leave his Thursday start early. Niese was diagnosed with left shoulder discomfort, but will try to find the root of the problem when he visits the specialist.

“It’s never good when you have to leave a game, but on a good note, the doctor did some tests and everything was negative,” Niese said. “It just felt really weak. I think the tendinitis kind of flared up again.”

Niese missed a start earlier in the season due to tendinitis in the shoulder.
