Fantasy owners shouldn’t be heistant to take a flier on Rays starting pitcher Chris Archer just because you might be worried the Rays shut him down because of an innings limit or he might be the odd-man out if Alex Cobb (concussion) returns.
In fact, Archer (owned 54 percent of leagues) hasn’t thrown a ton of innings in 2013. Combined between Triple-A and the majors, Archer has thrown 101 2/3 innings. Let’s say the Rays consider shutting him down around 170 innings and he averages six innings per start, he still has a long ways to go.
As for losing his rotation spot, there’s no guarantee Cobb will be back in 2013. Also, if Archer continues to outperform Roberto Hernandez, then the Rays could easily keep Archer in the rotation.
