My current outfielders are Jermaine Dye, Magglio Ordoñez, Torii Hunter, JeffFrancoeur, Carlos Beltran, and Andruw Jones. I know all 6 of these outfielders are good, but that still leaves me with 3 pretty good outfielders on the bench every game. I would like to trade maybe 2 out of these 6 players so i can adress the other needs of my team. I was wondering if you would be able to help me select witch two would be the best to trade.
Well, this question is more difficult that it appears at first glance. If the GNUru had to get rid of 2 outfielders, it would be Magglio Ordonez and Tori Hunter. The problem with that is that they do not hold much trade value. They do, however, have plenty of value to your team and will post solid numbers for your team. In situations like this the GNUru would rather deal the player with the most value and the would be Carlos Beltran. Using Beltran as trade bait you should be able to patch any hole with a stud player. The best part about trading away a Beltran is that you would still retain a solid core of outfielders with Jones, Dye, and Francoer leading the way.
However, if your are in a ROTO league and need the stolen bases from Beltran you may want to consider packaging an Andruw Jones with one of your lesser outfielders. While Jones's trade value is not at the same level as Beltran, you would still be able to land a great player at one of your weak positions. Perhaps the best part of a deal like this is that it frees up a roster spot for you to scavenge the waiver wire and free agent lists. There is plenty O'gold sitting out there this time of year.
