I had drafted Jonathan Paplebon before he was designated as the closer in Boston. I have closers that should keep me in contention, so I thought Papelbon's value is at an all time high. I've been offered Ben Sheets for him. I could use a serious starter, but worry about Sheets. The outlook for him is good this year.
What do you think?
If you in fact have the closer position in good hands, I see no reason why you shouldn't gamble on Ben Sheets. For all indications he is healthy and an improved Brewers team could give him the run support he has lacked when healthy in previous seasons. You are also correct to think now is the time to trade Papelbon as his trade value is probably as high as it will be all season. In addition, consider the fact that Red Sox manager Terry Francona will be hesitant to use Papelbon on back to back days so not to jeopardize Paps career.
That said, the GNUru thinks Paps will have a fine season but I think you'd be foolish to pass up a potential top 10 starter for a closer which as you said, you really don't need.
