The value of relief pitcher is determined by the type of league. The GNUru is a fan of leagues that value closers, particularly their dominance. Some leagues place emphasis on K’s, blown saves, IP, BB etc. for closers. Even if you play in a standard league it is always a good idea to look at how dominant a closer is- racking up saves is often dictated by how the team does. Closers on high scoring teams sometimes are worse than closers on bad teams that are in a lot of close games. With so many circumstances determining how a closer does, simply go with the closer with the best “stuff” and hope everything else works out.
