The GNUru is not going to detail any ground breaking theories regarding starting pitchers- it’s all been said before. However the GNUru certainly has an idea of what makes a great fantasy rotation- you need a balanced approach to your draft. Don’t go drafting a team of high-risk, high-reward pitchers. How good would your team have been with a heavy investment with guys like Mark Prior, Kerry Wood, Ben Sheets, Jason Schmidt? This draft try an acquire 1 of each type of undervalued pitcher on draft day: an average pitcher on a great offensive team (e.g. Jon Garland, Chien Ming Wang, Jason Marquis, Tom Glavine), a dominant pitcher on a crappy team (Aaron Harang, any Marlins pitcher etc.), and a workhorse pitcher (Brandon Webb, Carlos Zambrano, Roy Oswalt, etc.). Also be aware of the GNUru’s secret stat OPS to determine which pitcher is for real and who go lucky in 2006. Stay tuned for the a special GNUru article detailing this analysis this spring!
