Lineup Literacy: Week 21
Written by The GNUru

Davis RajaiThe first 20 weeks of the 2007 Fantasy Baseball season are just about in the books and we are now officially in the home stretch of the fantasy baseball season.  For some, it’s about time to turn your attention to the upcoming fantasy football season.  For others it’s time to fine tune your team for a playoff run.  For those still in contention for post-season fantasy play, this is the time of the year your roster and lineup decisions can make or break your season.   Lucky for you the GNUru is here to help you with your week 21 lineup decisions.  Week 21- GNUru Batter BanterWith the first half of the season behind us, some players have settled down and have begun to hit their stride while other have faded into oblivion.  Player value at this point should pretty much represent their current level of production - that is those that are playing well have high value and those that aren’t, do not (regardless of what name is involved).  At this point in the season you can now safely bench or even drop some of your sluggish sluggers in favor of some the hot hitters.  Below is a list of the hottest hitters the past few weeks to aid your lineup decisions.  While some on the list are no-brainers (Albert Puljols, Lance Berkman, Matt Holliday, etc.) others are still scratching their way into fantasy lineups (Raul Ibanez, Davis Rajai, Mark Reynolds, Nate McLouth, etc.) and warrant lineup consideration.

Also of interest are the teams that play a full schedule of games:  Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Cincinnati, Colorado, Florida, Houston, L.A. Angels, Minnesota, Oakland, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis, Tampa Bay, Texas, Toronto and Washington.

Week 21 - GNUru Rotation Ramblings

With the season well underway, pitchers have built up enough of a track record for owners to put their trust in certain pitcher regardless of the name involved. That said, this is the time of year teams begin calling up some youngsters to make starts.  If they pitch well they'll have a shot to stay in the rotation (especially on teams out of contention).  If not they'll be sent back down to the minors.  While the GNUru doesn't recommend starting unknown players that are double-starting, it's always wise to keep your eyes open.  You never know who the next Brandon Webb may be!

In weekly head-to-head (H2H) leagues, it's often the better strategy to avoid weak double starters and go with pitcher with proven track records (or at least look to be in mid-season form).  Here is a list of which starting pitchers have been impressive of late and warrant rotation consideration regardless of how many starts they will make in week 21. Numbers are compiled during the last 14 days.
