Bradford impresses teammates

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports Rams QB Sam Bradford continues to make strides in his offseason work. Rams WR Brooks Foster has been impressed with Bradford's development. "I've never been around anyone like that," Foster said. "He throws a real good ball, puts a nice touch on it for the receiver. ... Everything that you hear about him is true." Ultimately, Bradford will be the Rams' starting quarterback. But the Rams might open training camp with A.J. Feeley as the starter. That's OK with Bradford. He's more concerned with nailing down the offensive intricacies and sharpening his timing with the receivers. "I still have a long way to go; I know that," Bradford said. "But I think being around the vets, guys who have been in this offense, (helps). I see a play out here that I might think looked fine, the way it needs to be run. And then we get in the film room and they have some input: 'No, this needs to be quicker, this guy's route should be deeper.' It's really helpful to see and Read More

V-Jack to sit out 2010?

Vincent Jackson is currently an unsigned restricted free agent, tendered at the highest level to deter other teams from signing him. The Chargers played hardball with him in that regard, refusing to talk about a long-term deal, and now Jackson is playing hardball back. The San Diego Union-Tribune cites sources that say Jackson is prepared to sit out for part or all of the 2010 season if a new deal isn't reached. Making things more complicated is a letter the Chargers sent to Jackson notifying him that if he doesn't sign his tender offer by June 15, his salary for 2010 will be drastically cut by over $2 million. McCown expects to be No. 2 QB

Jaguars QB Luke McCown said during an interview on Sirius NFL Radio that he's the backup and David Garrard is the starter for 2010. "It's David's job," McCown said. "There's been a lot more made about it being a competition than there really should be. If anybody even hints to me about the idea of it being an open competition, I'm all for it. But that's not the case. ... I gladly work my tail off every day. I approach every rep in order to be the starter. There doesn't have to be a sense of, 'It's an open competition.' I'm going to do my best to push David to be better because if he's better, our team is better. In the offseason, I think it's easy to get caught up in individual competitions and battles. This thing is still about being a team and going out and winning a championship. That's got to be the goal year-round. That's the goal for me." Benn behind for starting spot

The St. Petersburg Times reports the Bucs could have a three-way race for the starting wide receiver spots. The paper says second-year WR Sammie Stroughter is making a push for a starting job. In addition to his flanker duties, he's working as an outside receiver and using his speed and quickness to get off the line of scrimmage. Meanwhile, WR Mike Williams, the fourth-round pick from Syracuse, appears to be ahead of Illinois WR Arrelious Benn, who was taken two rounds ahead of him. But Benn's real worth will be demonstrated once the pads go on and he's able to break tackles and make yards after the catch. Gano tries to hold off Medlock

The Washington Post reports Graham Gano is trying to win the job as the Redskins kicker this year in a battle with Justin Medlock. Gano finished 2009 as Washington's kicker after he replaced the struggling Shaun Suisham. In four games, Gano was 4 of 4 on field goal attempts; his only miss came on one of his seven extra point attempts.
