Astros may be interested in Taveras

The Houston Astros have expressed interest in CF Willy Taveras, who was released by the Athletics, according to the Houston Chronicle. "If Willy clears waivers, then we would have an interest in talking to him about a non-roster opportunity," Astros GM Ed Wade said. "He would have to come in and compete for one of the extra outfield spots." Taveras must first clear waivers before the sides can take the talks further. In 2009 he batted .240 with one home run, 15 RBI, 56 runs and 25 stolen bases.
