All Mac computers are compatible with the installation and running of AVI players which can be used for playing AVI files. However, you may be required to install another component for playback if this hasn't already been done. AVI players are also compatible with some, not all, DVD players. If you're using Mac OS X 10.4 or a more recent version, download and install Perian Quicktime Component. However, if you're using a version from Mac OS X 10.1-10.3, install components of Universal AVI Quicktime.Due to AVI files usually containing DivX as well, you will most likely be able to play your file as soon as you've installed the above mentioned components. However, if the said AVI file consists of a WMV instead of DivX, an extra component will need to be installed before you can use your AVI player
