Ilya Kovalchuk is believed to be on the verge of signing a new contract with the New Jersey Devils, according to ESPN's Scott Burnside.
Our View
Rumors have pegged the deal at being in the neighborhood of 15 years and $107 million, very similar to the contract that was rejected by the NHL earlier this summer. If his pact again falls apart with the Devils, he could head back to his native Russia to play in the KHL.
