Alex Smith finished 9-of-13 for 88 yards in San Francisco's preseason game against Minnesota Sunday.
Our View
An almost incomparable improvement over last week. Smith was sharp, routinely stepping into the pocket and pinpointing receivers. He led a 12-play, 70-yard TD drive to open the game and looked comfortable all night. He's still a fringe QB2, but this is great news for Michael Crabtree and Vernon Davis owners.
