LeBron looking to team up with CP3?

Posted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 50 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News According to Yahoo! Sports, NBA powerbroker and LeBron James confidant "World Wide" William Wesley has been telling teams that trading for Hornets point guard Chris Paul would dramatically increase their chances of landing James this summer. Our View With the Hornets up for sale and in constant financial trouble, Paul is not untouchable. Although any team in the NBA could use a player like Paul, the Knicks have a particularly glaring need at point guard, as well as a desire to land James. Stay tuned.

Utah eyeing Derrick Favors

Posted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 50 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News Were projected top three pick Derrick Favors to fall in this Thursday's draft, the Jazz, who have the ninth pick, would be interested, according to the Salt Lake Tribune. Our View They have reportedly "scouted him extensively." However, if they really want to land him, they will almost certainly have to trade up. Minnesota, who has the fourth pick, could be a potential partner. Stay tuned.

LeBron throws a bone to Ohio

Posted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 52 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News According to the Associated Press, LeBron James "stunned" the crowd at "LeBron Appreciation Day" in his hometown of Akron, Ohio on Saturday after arriving near the event's official end time. "Akron is my home, it's my life," James told the crowd. "Everything I do is for this city. I'm going to continue to do great things. I love every last one of you all. Akron is home." Our View Would James speak with such love for a city he is about to abandon? Perhaps, but still a good sign nonetheless for the citizens of Ohio. The NBA free agency period is now just 12 days away. Stay tuned.

Allen plans to stay in Boston

Posted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 54 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News Ray Allen, who will become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, said that he'd like to re-sign with Boston, according to ESPN.com. "I'll deal with that when the time comes, but it's obvious that I don't want to be anywhere else," Allen said. Our View Allen will certainly draw plenty of interest as a still-athletic sharpshooter with tons of playoff experience. Still, from the sounds of it, he won't be wearing a new uniform next season.

Celtics blow late lead to lose Championship

Posted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 54 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News Paul Pierce put up a team-high 18 points, but it wasn't enough as the Celtics blew a late lead and fell 83-79 to the Lakers, who went on to win their 16th NBA Championship. Our View Pierce had a team-high ten boards as well, but hit just five of his 15 shots on the night. The Celtics shot 40 percent overall as a team, eight percent better than the Lakers, but got just six points from their bench and couldn't break the Lakers' suffocating defense in the fourth quarter. Rajon Rondo had another solid game, missing a triple-double by just two rebounds and hitting a late three-pointer that gave Boston hope. He finished with 14 points, eight boards and ten assists, but he didn't get a lot of help. Ray Allen was just 3-of-14 for 13 points and Kevin Garnett had 17, but only managed three rebounds.

Lakers come from behind for 16th Championship

Posted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 54 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News Kobe Bryant hit just 6-of-24 shots, but it didn't stop him from winning the NBA Finals MVP award and the Lakers from earning their 16th title in franchise history. Our View The Lakers came from behind to top the Celtics 83-79 with a fourth quarter that featured 52 points and a glut of three-pointers in the last few minutes. Kobe finished with 23 points, 15 rebounds, two assists and a steal en route to his fifth championship and second career Finals MVP award. Ron Artest had a huge game with 20 points, five boards and five steals and his trey late in the fourth quarter pretty much sealed the deal for LA. Pau Gasol led everyone in rebounds with 18 and chipped in with 19 points four assists and two blocks. Andrew Bynum played just 18 and a half minutes and finished with two points and six boards, but the Lakers got it done without him.

Heat pick up Chalmers' option

Posted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 54 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News The Heat picked up the team option on point guard Mario Chalmers on Thursday. Our View Chalmers wasn't owed much money, so the Heat decided to pick up the option instead of letting him become a free agent. Still, he's not a strong starting option so the club will likely target a point guard in the draft and Chalmers will be a depth player.

Dalembert dealt for Nocioni and Hawes

Posted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 54 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News The 76ers have dealt Samuel Dalembert to the Kings in exchange for Andres Nocioni and Spencer Hawes, according to ESPN.com. Our View Dalembert failed to develop into the offensive player that Philadelphia hoped he would, but there's no denying his presence on the defensive side of the floor. He'll provide a shot blocker and fine rebounder in the middle of the Kings' frontcourt to go along with the smaller but more offensively-skilled Carl Landry.

Nocioni lands in Philadelphia

Posted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 54 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News The 76ers have dealt Samuel Dalembert to the Kings in exchange for Andres Nocioni and Spencer Hawes, according to ESPN.com. Our View Nocioni will still have to serve a two-game suspension following his plea of no contest to a DUI charge in March. The bringing in of a small forward like Nocioni could be an indicator that the 76ers may be leaning toward drafting Derrick Favors over Evan Turner with the No. 2 pick.

Bynum likely to be ineffective in game seven

Posted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 55 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News Andrew Bynum, who has said he will play in game seven of the NBA Finals on Thursday, isn't likely to give the Lakers many minutes, according to Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times. Our View He barely played in the second half of game six, and it just doesn't seem likely that he will be able to give much in game seven. With Boston's Kendrick Perkins unable to play, however, Bynum's absence will not hurt the Lakers as much as it otherwise would have.

Johnson hands reigns over to Harris

Posted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 56 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News New Nets coach Avery Johnson spoke of Devin Harris and mentioned "I can give him the reigns (to my system) now," according to the Nets twitter feed. Our View Harris played his first couple of seasons under Johnson in Dallas, and the two were sometimes at odds. Harris thrived once he got to New Jersey, although his proneness to injury remains a big concern. He should be able to bounce back in 2010-11 along with the rest of the Nets.
