Boozer is top priority for Jazz

Posted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 42 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News Jazz GM Kevin O'Connor says his top priority this summer is re-signing Carlos Boozer, according to the Salt Lake Tribune. He is eligible to become a free agent on July 1 and may be a prime sign-and-trade candidate. Our View The Jazz have to hope that Boozer would consider a discount to remain in Salt Lake City as they are already right up on the salary cap and could surpass the luxury tax by re-signing Boozer. While it may be their top priority, don't expect much success. With Paul Millsap signed, they already have his replacement. There are several other teams likely more willing to sign Boozer for more cash.

Wade and Bosh to visit Knicks

Posted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 42 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News ESPNNewYork.com reports that Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh are both expected to visit the Knicks when free agency starts on July 1. Earlier in the day we were told that LeBron James would not be visiting the Knicks, but rather their reps will visit him in Ohio. Our View A lot of false leaks have come out regarding free agents and their plans next week. Take this with a grain of salt, although the Knicks would love to land the two superstars. Still, smart money is on Wade re-signing with the Heat.

Gomes likely to become free agent

Posted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 43 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News The Trail Blazers do not plan on picking up Ryan Gomes' team option, according to the Oregonian. He was dealt to Portland on draft night along with Luke Babbitt for Martell Webster. Our View Gomes is a solid forward that will land somewhere, perhaps as a starter. Depending on where he signs, he could still have decent fantasy value next season.

Blatche breaks foot, out two months

Posted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 43 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News According to Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix, Andray Blatche has suffered a broken foot, and will be sidelined the next 8-to-10 weeks. Our View Very bad news for one of 2009-10's breakout players. However, if that time-line holds, he should still be ready for training camp next fall. Stay tuned.

Collison thinks he's on the block

Posted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 43 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News Darren Collison thinks he could be traded before the beginning of the 2010-11 season, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Our View After he played exceptionally well in Chris Paul's absence last season, New Orleans could probably get a nice haul in return for him. Trading him makes much more sense than dealing Paul would.

Amico: LeBron likely to stay in Cleveland

Posted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 43 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News According to Pro Basketball News' Sam Amico, the general feeling amongst the media in Cleveland is that LeBron James will ultimately stay with the Cavaliers. Our View Don't tell that to the Bulls and Heat, who have both cleared significant chunks of payroll in recent days in obvious attempts to clear even more cap space to sign James. As usual, stay tuned.

Bosh waiting on LeBron

Posted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 43 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News Free agent to be Chris Bosh says he is waiting on the decision of LeBron James before deciding where to sign this summer, according to the New York Post. "I think everyone has to," was his exact quote. Our View This is a change of tune from earlier this offseason, when Bosh openly bristled at the notion that he was simply a potential sidekick for LeBron, or a back-up plan for teams that missed out on King James. It sounds like he has now acknowledged reality, however.

Magic have great draft

Posted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 43 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News According to Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix, the Magic had the best draft of any team on Thursday. Our View They drafted big men Daniel Orton and Stanley Robinson. Orton is considered a great talent, but suffered a free-fall on Thursday partly due to concerns over his knees. Playing behind Dwight Howard and Marcin Gortat, he'll have plenty of time to get healthy, and two great examples to follow.

Posted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 43 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News According to Yahoo! Sports, "Chris Bosh is attaching himself more to LeBron (James), than LeBron is to him," one official said. Our View There's still a good chance they will end up together somewhere, but it is not something that LeBron is demanding. Stay tuned.

Posted in Fantasy Basketball by DoubleDribble 44 days ago (http://ownersedge.fanball.com)
The News Following a draft night deal, Martell Webster is now a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Our View He averaged 24.5 minutes and 9.4 points per game last season. He should see a slight uptick in both of those totals in 2009-10.
