Bogut's rehab going well

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that Bucks GM John Hammond provided a positive update Tuesday on the progress of center Andrew Bogut, who is in Australia working to come back from the right-elbow surgery he underwent April 12. Bogut was bothered all of last season by the elbow and hand injuries that he suffered in a nasty fall late in the 2009-’10 season. The Bucks shut him down for the final four games of last season so he could have the surgery that was performed by Dr. James Andrews. “He sounded very good and very excited,” said Hammond. “He talked about how he’s lifting now and he’s getting hundreds of shots up during the day.” Last year, Bogut was not able to start shooting the basketball until October. “If you look at a timetable of just where he was last year at this time in comparison to today, I don’t think he was even capable of shooting the basketball last year at this time and how he’s talking about getting up 500 shots a day and lifting,” said Hammond. “He even made the point to me and said, ‘I probably over-did it a little bit’, and he reached out at one point to Dr. Andrews who said, ‘Just relax for a couple days’. (Bogut) said, ‘I’m planning on going right back at it (after that)’. So he seems to be in a great way physically and in a great state of mind. We still know who and what he is to our team. He’s the key piece. For us to be what we want to be he has to have a good year. We know that, he knows that, his teammates know that, and I expect him to be ready to go.”
