The Nets have reached a verbal agreement with Avery Johnson to be their new head coach, according to ESPN.com.
Our View
Johnson was the NBA's Coach of the Year with Dallas in 2005 and took the Mavericks to the finals in 2006 before being dismissed after the 2007-08 season. He's worked as an analyst with ESPN since that time but has been known to desire another NBA head coaching job, and now he has it. The Nets were awful last season but do have two potential stars in Brook Lopez and Devin Harris, not to mention some other nice young pieces as well as the money to make a few big moves.
