Rays SP James Shields pitched six innings on Monday night, allowing three runs, two earned, off eight hits in a 4-3 win over the Angels. The right-hander gave up a two-run double to Hideki Matsui in the third before settling down over the next two innings. He came back out four the seventh but was puled after giving up a leadoff single to Peter Bourjos. A Kelly Shoppach error allowed that run to scored, charging Shields with the third run of the outing. He struck out 10 and walked one while picking up his 12th win of the year.
