Mookie Wilson has been dismissed once again by the New York Mets. The Mets announced several changes to their staff Wednesday, saying Wilson will not be brought back as the first base coach. Wilson is among the most popular Mets in team history. He was offered another job in the organization, and there was no indication of whether he would take it.

Francona to fill in for McCarver at ALCS (AP)

Fox analyst Tim McCarver will miss the first two games of the AL championship series because of a medical procedure and will be replaced by former Boston Red Sox manager Terry Francona. Matt Holliday was in the St. Louis Cardinals' lineup for their must-win Game 4 of the NL division series against the Philadelphia Phillies. Manager Tony La Russa made out two lineup cards prior to Wednesday's game, one with Holliday in it and one without him. The star outfielder has been out because of an injured right middle finger.

Yankees SP CC Sabathia told ESPN.com on Wednesday that he would be available out of the bullpen for Game 5 of the ALDS against the Tigers. "I'm definitely available," Sabathia said. Sabathia started the Game 3 on Monday night, allowing four runs on seven hits over 5 1/3 innings. He also walked six and struck out three while throwing 106 pitches.
