The News Ryan Rowland-Smith draws the start today for Seattle against the Angels in place of Doug Fister, who's dealing with shoulder fatigue, according to the Everett Herald. Our View Fister could be back next week, so this could be a one-time thing for RRS until he's relegated back to the bullpen. He'll be limited to between 75-90 pitches today, and we don't see any reason to use him for the spot start.

The News Jonathan Broxton shut the door on the Braves Friday night with a perfect ninth inning in a 5-4 win. Our View The save was Broxton's 14th of the season and he fanned two batters in the inning to up his K total to 37 in 25.1 innings pitched. He now has nine saves in his last ten outings (going 9-for-9) and has allowed just one run over that stretch.
Escobar plates three in loss

The News Yunel Escobar went 3-for-4 with three RBI in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Dodgers. Our View Escobar has has a miserable season so far, so it was nice to see him break out on Friday. His average jumped from .224 to .238 and he upped his RBI total to 16. He has yet to hit a homer this season, but is batting well over .400 in his last ten games. Start him now that he's getting hot.

Our View He'll start against Florida and could be worth adding in NL-only leagues, though we'd refrain from playing him for now. No word yet on what the Mets' corresponding roster move will be.
