The News The Giants have recalled right-hander Joe Martinez from Triple-A for Friday's game. Our View Martinez won't jump right into Wellemeyer's spot in the rotation. The Giants will use him out of the bullpen to start and if his stuff looks good enough he may be in line for a promotion. He held a 5-2 record and 3.07 ERA in Triple-A.

The News According to Dan Hayes on Twitter, Everth Cabrera could begin a rehab assignment as early as Monday. Our View Cabrera has been on the DL since May 28th, but has been making solid progress lately. He's shown nice results in batting and fielding drills, but may have a tough time finding at-bats when he eventually returns due to the success the Pads have been experiencing. It will be tough to find a place for his .212-.257-.283 line.
