Doumit breaks his silence

MLB.com reports Pirates C Ryan Doumit finally broke his silence Monday about his reduced role with the team this year. Doumit, who is expected to be a backup catcher and right fielder, still feels he can be a regular contributor. "It's a business," Doumit said. "That's the nature of the beast. I understand that. I'm not the first guy to ever go through this. I think the best way for me to handle it is to come in and be the best that I can be. That's my approach. I tried to come in in good shape. I'm going to let my [play] on the field do [the talking]. As far as hard feelings or anything like that, absolutely not. I understand it's a business, and the best player is going to play. We're going to go from there."
