The Chicago Cubs have reached a $1,175,000, one-year deal with Jeff Baker, avoiding arbitration with the versatile infielder. Baker hit .272 with four homers and 21 RBIs in 79 games for the Cubs last season, including a .326 average after the All-Star break. He made 23 starts at third base, 20 starts at second base, four in right field and one at first.
