Tigers SP Justin Verlander gave a gutsy effort on Monday night in Game 3 of the ALDS in Detroit against the Yankees. Facing CC Sabathia, Verlander showed why he's the favorite to win the AL Cy Young this season. Verlander wasn't at his best after starting Game 1 but seeing that game postponed due to rain. Still, he was good enough to win as he struck out 11 Yankees over eight innings. Verlander threw 120 pitches as he gave up four runs on six hits and three walks with the Tigers taking a 2-1 series lead.
