The Denver Post reports that some major league executives expect the Rockies to pursue a trade with the Mets to acquire 3B David Wright this offseason. The Mets have stated that Wright is not available, but the Rockies have a need to fill at third base, and they also have a bargaining chip in 3B prospect Nolan Arenado. Also, trading Wright could free the Mets to re-sign SS Jose Reyes. Wright is coming off his least productive season as a full-timer, hitting .254 with 14 home runs, 61 RBI and 13 stolen bases in 102 games. He missed more than two months of the season due to a stress fracture in his lower back.
Rox may target Wright for hot corner
