According to FanHouse's Tom Krasovic, the Padres are "deep into talks to get Cardinals outfielder Ryan Ludwick."

Our View

A stunner. Ludwick has not been mentioned in any previous trade rumors, and it would seem very curious for a team struggling to find offense to deal one of its best run producers. And since the Padres are in the midst of a heated division race, it's unlikely they would be sending any major league ready players the Cardinals way. St. Louis is clearly emboldened by the recent emergence of Jon Jay. For the Padres, a team starting two Hairstons every day, the acquisition of Ludwick would obviously be huge. Stay tuned.
