Cardinals SP Jaime Garcia looked sharp for the mostpart in Game 3 of the NLDS against the Phillies on Tuesday but he ended up being done in by one bad inning. After making it through his first six innings unscathed, he put two men on in the seventh before surrendering a three-run homer to Ben Francisco. He was done after throwing 100 pitches, 65 for strikes. Garcia also struck out three and walked two over his seven innings of work and took the loss in the 3-2 defeat. He surrendered six hits. "He was outstanding. I mean, outstanding," manager Tony La Russa told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "He made one mistake and the guy hit it out of the park. Usually that doesn't happen. And he rose to the occasion. He'll be proud of himself for what he did tonight."
