Yankees SP A.J. Burnett had his best outing in awhile in Game 4 of the ALDS against the Tigers on Tuesday. He pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing one run on four hits in the 10-1 win. The right-hander made it through his first three frames unscathed before surrendering a solo homer to Victor Martinez in the fourth. He was pulled for Rafael Soriano after giving up a two-out single to Don Kelly in the sixth. Burnett, who threw 81 pitches, also struck out three and walked four in the victory. "I was thrilled for him, but I was thrilled for us. What he did, 5 2/3 and only giving up that one run, a great performance. Struggled a little bit in the first inning and then really settled down nicely," manager Joe Girardi said. "I was proud of what he did. In a must-win situation for us, he pitched one of his best games of the year."
