Marian Hossa and Patrick Kane played like stars for the Blackhawks -- and that made all the difference for struggling Chicago. Hossa scored twice as the Blackhawks overcame an early two-goal deficit and defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-4 to end a three-game losing streak. Kane had the goal that tied the game at 3 and an assisted on Hossa's go-ahead score as the Blackhawks won for only the...
Gasol, Conley lead Grizzlies past Mavericks 96-85 (Yahoo! Sports)
2012
The Memphis Grizzlies wanted to make sure they maintained the momentum they had before the All-Star break. They did it by turning back the defending champion Mavericks on Wednesday night -- albeit with Dallas getting little production from Dirk Nowitzki, who left with a balky back. Marc Gasol had 22 points and 11 rebounds, and Mike Conley added 20 points and 10 assists as the Grizzlies won 96-85 in...

Down two key players for much of the night, the Pittsburgh Penguins emerge from a physical road game with two points. Pascal Dupuis converted in the fourth round of the shootout and the Penguins won their fourth straight, 4-3 over the Dallas Stars on Wednesday night. Dupuis beat Stars goaltender Kari Lehtonen with a wrist shot, then Pittsburgh goalie Marc-Andre Fleury cut down the angle and forced...
Anchor punished for implied insult towards Danica Patrick
2012
San Diego sportscaster Ross Shimabuku has been suspended for a week without pay for remarks made about Danica Patrick before her Sprint Cup Series debut in the Daytona 500.
After playing a clip in which Patrick talks about the adjectives she's been described with throughout her racing (and advertising) career, Shimabuku said, "I've got a few words. It's starts with a 'b' and it's not beautiful."
Shimabuku subsequently apologized for the remarks on Tuesday.

This isn't the first time in February that an anchor has been suspended over comments about a high-profile athlete. ESPN anchor Max Bretos was suspended for 30 days after using the phrase "chink in his armor" in a conversation with Walt Frazer about Jeremy Lin. A similar phrase was also used in a headline on ESPN's mobile website, and the editor who wrote the headline was fired.
And while Shimabuku is at San Diego's Fox affiliate and Bretos is at ESPN, it is interesting to note the discrepancy in suspension lengths for the two anchors, especially given that Bretos' was in the course of an unscripted, on-air conversation and that Shimabuku's line was clearly premeditated. And frankly, quite stupid.

Mike Milbury, Jeremy Roenick battle over Nystrom hit; JR calls Mad Mike ‘soft’ (VIDEO)
2012
Eric Nystrom's hit on Kris Letang sparked debate around the hockey world on Wednesday night, as some felt the Dallas Stars forward's check was suspension-worthy and others felt he either didn't hit Letang in the head or that Letang put himself in a prone position.
Mike Milbury of NBC Sports Network? Put him down in the "suspend Nystrom" column.
Breaking sports news video. MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL highlights and more.
Later in the studio show, Jeremy Roenick joined Milbury and Keith Jones for a discussion on head shots and … well, things got a little heated. Make sure you stay until the final minute between Roenick and Milbury, who he called "soft" and then offered to buy a Shirley Temple, as Milbury vowed to never have Roenick back on the postgame show.
Yes, this is what passes for hockey talk in U.S. television, why do you ask? Although we would like to see Dan Bylsma take Milbury's advice and offer advice to Pierre McGuire on where to stick his mic ...
Hey, remember when Milbury told Roenick to suck it up when he cried after the 2010 Stanley Cup Final? Good times ...
